Blogging all over the World

Yep, I can see you all now, playing your air guitar, doing the hip and shoulder movements whilst Status Quo plays in your head – you know the one I mean…

How do I know it? Because I now have “Rockin’ All Over The World” going around in my head now too, but I have changed the word to blogging.

What exactly do I mean by blogging all over the World? Well, as you can see from the many photographs I upload on social media, I haven’t been anywhere exciting recently. Or have I?

When I started blogging, I honestly didn’t know if anyone was going to be bothered to read what I had to say. After all, I am not talking about World Affairs, or trying to solve the National Debt. I just waffle on in my own merry little way. Sometimes about clothes, other times about adventures, or maybe the odd really personal post.

But none of it will change the World. I am just loving writing what I write, and having the time of my life.

So, it is really amazing and fascinating to see where my blog has been going. Via the analytics that are inbuilt into WordPress, I can see all the different places that people are reading me. Which literally has blown my mind!

When you blog, you expect most of your readers to be from your home Country, in this case the UK. What you don’t expect is to get viewers in far flung Countries, some I would be hard pushed to find on a map of the World!

Looking recently I was amazed to find some of the strangest places on my World map readers. Now, Mainland Europe and and North America are common ones I would expect to be included in the list. Kyrgyzstan is not!

In the past 5 months since my blog went self hosted, I have been viewed in places as far away as Thailand to Trinidad and Tobago.

What really amazed me though, is the amount of views I get in Countries where it is my understanding that women are PORTRAYED as being repressed and not allowed Western ways. I don’t mean this to come across as racist or uneducated. When I see the lives that some women live, on the news and in the press, it is hard to imagine that we would have much in common.

Oman, Egypt, Kuwait, UAE ,Afghanistan Saudi Arabia, Iraq AND Iran are all places I wouldn’t imagine I would ever get readers.

But I have!!!

And that fills me with such joy and pride. I am absolutely astounded that people who have a totally different way of life to myself, would find what I have to say, of any interest.

Is that why they read me? To see what other peoples lives are like? Are they plus-sized and are reaching out into the community? Are they oppressed and dream of life in a foreign land?

I have absolutely no idea, and unfortunately as good as analytics is, it will never be able to tell me that. All I know is it is amazing to have these readers all over the World.

I hope this continues too. There are still quite a few countries in the World where I haven’t had a view. I know that getting one in every country is nigh on impossible, But look at the fun in trying!

Everywhere on this map in blue is where I have had at least one visitor from. There’s not a great deal of white left, so it would be great to fill in a few of those spaces. So many Countries in the past 5 months, and I am absolutely amazed and honoured!

Although this states ONE YEAR, My blog went live 5 months ago

I would love to hear from you – tell me where you live and why you read my blog. It doesn’t have to been a huge comment, just a couple of words as to why you visit me. I am genuinely interested in learning more about my readers.

Till next time
