Lush kills off all competition!

On Thursday 14th July I hopped on a train down to London to meet up with my lovely sister-in-law who had flown in for a holiday, from South Korea.

We spent most of the day together, wandering around the city, shopping and eating some decadent cakes, before making our goodbyes later afternoon.

Now, as my train wasn’t leaving for nearly two hours, my plan was for a quick pop into Lush on Oxford Street, and then go back to Euston, sequester myself in the All Bar One and have a cocktail or two.

Well, the first certainly happened but the second one didn’t!

Now, for those of you regular readers, you will know just how much I enjoy my cocktails, so just what happened?

Lush Happened………

Popping in with the intention of getting a bath bomb or two, I was lured by the big industrial size sink were customers are encouraged to test out bath bombs and scrubs. In the bottom of the sink was a beautiful gold glitter residue. I needed to know what product it was!

The lovely assistant on this section went on to tell me all about the “Golden Slumber” bath bomb (Exclusive to Oxford Street) and how amazing it was. Well, I had to go upstairs and get myself one!

Whilst there, somehow a “The Comforter” Bubble Bar fell into my basket too. The berry scent was just too hard to resist!

Popping back downstairs, I was greeted with a lovely smile from a male assistant who complimented me on my look and dress; well what more could a girl ask for!

I asked for his assistance in directing me to the Shower Jellies. I ended up choosing a lovely Cinnamon variety, called “93,000 Miles”. Eucalyptus, Peppermint Oil and Cinnamon Leaf all make this spicy yet satisfying.  A real treat.

Mooching around more, I was transfixed by the range of eyeshadows and liners. The lady who was on the section was so enthusiastic and went on to tell me about these sparkly “Earth eye powders”. As I was dressed in a lilac pin up girl dress, she demonstrated one called Dream. This was a light silvery sparkly powder, which when sprayed with a little water turned into a darker lilac. Just like magic!

I then noticed the range of liquid eyeliners. Now, as any self respecting Pin Up Girl knows, your face isn’t complete without inky black winged liner. I have tried pretty much every one on the market, from gel to liquid to pencil. This liquid liner was without a doubt the darkest inkiest black I have ever tried.

“Independent Liquid Liner” is smudgeproof and waterproof. Which is exactly what I want from my eyeliner. Competitively priced at £14.50, I knew I would have to give it a go.

The last item to go into my basket was the “Fun” Bar In this case, a Gold bar of squishy fun, smelling of a honey caramel. The bar is multi-purpose. You can use it as a solid shampoo, shower bar, bubble bath bar and even for moulding into silly shapes!

The Gold Fun bar is a limited edition, which I think you can only get in Oxford Street, however you can get several other varieties online and other branches.

Finally my haul was complete. I happily went and queued and paid for my purchases.

As I was about to leave, I stopped again at the sink area and spoke to the same lovely lady who had helped me with the Golden Slumbers. I told her all about my purchases and how pleased I was with everything. We got chatting about what I had purchased, and this lovely lady told me how amazing I looked and that my dress was stunning.

She then surprised me by saying she was going to give me a present. She went on to present me with a “Sexbomb” Bath bomb.

Lush believe in the act of “paying something forward” and this was her way of doing so. I was so very chuffed as she really had made my day.

Finding out that her name was Faazila, we started chatting about all the different products and what were my favourites. She asked if I had tried any of the exfoliants and I had to admit that I hadn’t. She grabbed a couple of products, one an exfoliant bar, and the other a tub of “Rub Rub Rub”

Having my arms exfoliated with both products was just amazing! My arms felt like velvet. The scrub left my skin so soft and smooth. Testing out the two different products was so great, because I could see that the rub tub left my arms feeling much nicer and softer.

Asking where I could find those, Faazila took me to the display and again another item made its way home with me.

Asking if I had ever been downstairs, she took me for a tour around. A perfume bar  and a disco ball room was not something I expected to see in the store. Such quirky fun!

I also found out that there was a spa inside the building, where you can have treatments ranging from full body massages to ear candles! How amazing it that? I intend to book a session there when I go to London in November for the British Plus Size Awards, to be pampered before heading out for a night on the red carpet!

Faazila then went on to demonstrate the most bizarre massage bars on my arms, giving me one last pampering treat. This was called “Strawberry Feels Forever”  and smelled amazing, full on strawberry and hibiscus. I say Bizarre, because they look like a cross between soap and chocolate. When warmed up and rubbed into the skin, they left it feeling buttery smooth.

Having a full hand and arm massage was just divine. All the stress of the day and travel just melted away, leaving me a melted heap of happiness.

The final touch was a rub over with two different moisturising bars – “Black Stockings” and “Shimmy Shimmy”

Both these bars are highly moisturing, but act differently. Black Stockings leaves a tinted colour to your skin, basically a rosy glow. Just what my pale skin needed. Shimmy Shimmy is a pale coloured bar, which adds a lovely golden glitter to the skin.

Again another product that I fell in love with. I felt like a total pampered princess, and had learnt so much more about the Lush products and facilities that they had in store. Faazila literally was the best spokesperson for the company. She was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic, that it wasn’t hard to become enthused about the company and the ethics behind it all.

It won’t be long until I am back in London again, and I will definitely be popping back in as there area couple of product I need to add to my bath time and pampering routine, especially those Shimmer Bars!

Finally, I would like to thank the lovely Faazila for the time and attention that was lavished on me. I learnt so much about all the products, and came away with a lot more than I ever expected to get.

What do you think to Lush? Do you have a favourite that you can recommend I try next?
