A few weeks ago I had a lovely email from a company inviting me to my first ever VIP blogger event! In Piccadilly no less!
Well the first thing I did was to check my shifts, and to my surprise I actually had the day off. Well it would have been rude not to say yes to the invite, wouldn’t it?
The second thing to do was check the trains. If it was a fortune to travel then it would make it cost prohibitive.
Again the Gods must have been smiling on me as it was so cheap I upgraded to First Class.
As this was my first launch event in London I was unsure what to wear. However, hanging in my wardrobe was a new Pin Up Girl Clothing outfit that I had never worn before; the black satin Malibu Tiki dress and Bolero. I teamed it up with some blinging jewellery and a big stargazer lily in my poodle up-do and I was all set.
Travelling up to London in the middle of the day seemed really strange, but off I went. In fact I had the whole first class carriage to myself for the first half of the trip, it was utter luxury.
Meeting up with a bunch of blogger babes around 15 minutes before the start of the event, we had a good old catch up and a gossip. We went next door to Jewel which was the club holding the event and were welcomed in with a glass of champagne and photographs taken my several photographers.
Mingling with everyone whilst we waited for the show to start, it was a fantastic way of meeting new people and reconnecting with some that I hadn’t seen for quite a while. Waiters and waitresses circulated with a wonderful range of hot and cold canapes. It really was a wonderful affair.
A short while later the most stunning lady came onto the catwalk. Dressed in pale blush pink with huge feathery fans, I stood transfixed as she did a gorgeous, classy yet enticing burlesque routine. I was in awe of her moves AND her wardrobe. Satin briefs with suspenders, and a beautiful ruffled robe.
At this point the cocktails had started making the rounds and my favourite had to be the Porn star Martini with a shot of sparkling wine. There was also another lovely fruity one, which unfortunately I never found out what it was, apart from thoroughly delicious.
Then the music started and the real reason why we had all gathered together happened. The catwalk show started with the most amazing black corset adorned with blue, silver and black jewels. Absolutely stunning.
But it just kept getting better and better.
A red embellished corset, a gold lace see thru corset/bustier and then my absolute favourite. A red corset embellished with red and black feathers around the hip and the bust. It was just so beautiful that I couldn’t help lust after it.
It was just so beautiful I would wear it to the supermarket just to get a chance to wear it!
This was followed by a black baby-doll with a lace kimono which was to die for. Then a cream and gold combo, again with a lace kimono.
Next up was a red and black baby-doll trimmed with marabou feathers, with a high split in the middle to the chest. Perfect for Valentines Day.
A lemon robe and baby-doll followed after, which was so cute and a perfect spring garment. Last but not least was a two layer peach and orange flouncy baby-doll with embroidered cups and sequins. Again something that was so sweet I wanted to get one immediately.
This was the end of the first catwalk show so we mingled a lot more, snacking on the canapes and meeting some of models and ladies who work for the company helping to design the products.
I found out that although online the items come in specific sizes, they are also able to offer made to measure garments. Now given my strangely shaped body, this could be an absolute godsend. However, their standard range goes from a size 16 to 30, which for lingerie is a really good spectrum.
After a short pause (and more cocktails) we were treated to another burlesque performance, all shimmering gold tassels and a head dress that was a champagne bottle; just perfect!
The second catwalk took place afterwards, featuring another bevy of beautiful intimate apparel. The first was a stunning white baby-doll and matching robe accessorized with white hold ups; a perfect wedding night combination.
Next we were treated to a stunning sweetheart neckline corset in a sparkling ruby colour. Worn with jeans it would be fantastic as a going out look, or indeed staying in as a treat for your partner!
A silver grey baby-doll followed, which was very classic and elegant. The model, Eva just looked amazing in it. Next came a black satin corset, again perfect for outerwear as well as for the bedroom.
A white baby-doll with gold embellishments ticked all my boxes, and looked stunning as well as comfortable which is also an important factor.
The looks kept on coming, A black lacy baby-doll; divine.
Then the most stunning see-thru baby doll with an embossed gold pattern. I can honestly say I have never seen anything like it, it was just beautiful and I immediately lusted after it!
A see thru red baby doll with red bra cups was floaty and both sexy yet classy. Teamed up with black dotty knickers it really was a great look.
Finally another knockout corset. A black glittery sweetheart corset with a frilled peplum bottom. This was something I would definitely wear out on the town. In fact, I have the perfect skirt I would team this up with. Certainly not my normal style, but I really want to give it a go.
This was the end of the catwalk and we spent the remaining time talking about what we had seen and which pieces were our favourites.
I had an opportunity to speak to Liz, the owner of Viva Voluptuous and tell her what I thought of the collections. I have to admit I was totally blown away by them all. It is so unusual to see such beautiful lingerie in sizes that I know will fit me, as well as my smaller and larger friends!
It was all too soon time to leave the party and head back to the train station, however not before having quite a chat with the Queen of Gogglebox Sandra. She kindly posed for a couple of pictures which I know my family will all be so jealous of as we have watched the programme since the very first episode. It was a great ending to a fabulous event.
Tired and a little tipsy I headed back to St Pancras to catch my train. It was a lot busier in first class than it had been on the way out, which was lovely as a few of us passengers got chatting and having a giggle.
Oh and there may have been some wine involved!
Since getting home and looking at my pictures, sadly the lights and the place I had stood made a lot of my pictures unusable. They came out really blurry and I have used the best ones here that I could get. However I would like to thank the fabulous Dennetta McKain who has graciously allowed me to use a couple of her amazing photographs – Go check her out on Livin Phat Livin Large!
Finally I would like to thank Liz for inviting me to her amazing event, it was a total success and I can’t wait to see the pieces go live on the site.
I may have to invest in quite a few……
