Novelty pattern dresses. You either love them or hate them. And I am definitely a lover not a hater!
I am not talking about my vintage style dresses with cherries or birds on, but the really different ones like my Silly Old Seadog Mermaid dress or my Cowcow Carousel Horse dress. The really kind of “out there” dresses.
One such dress was the Pin Up Girl Zooey Dress in Witch transformation print. This was just so unusual and simply like nothing I had ever owned before. And I had to have it.
Luckily my blogger babe Boo was heading to America and was great enough to bring me one back. It was purchased in the Final Yard Sale, for a ridiculously low price (it is still available but only in an XS unfortunately)
Boo posted it to me when she got home and I tore into the package on it’s arrival. I was really pleased with the pattern and the combination of colours. It is so unusual, and for many would be a dress worn just at Halloween. However, I think I will wear this any time the mood takes me.
The dress features a cross over bodice, with two buttons on the left side and has a pattern all around the bottom showing a cartoon witch transforming from a beautiful queen into an ugly old hag. This is very reminiscent of Disney cartoons, including Snow White and Sleeping Beauty.
The rear of the dress has crossed straps which are adjustable. I love these features (it is the same with my Pele dress) as my body is quite short and the straps are usually far too long.
Now, I know this is not something you can wear to just any event. It has to be an event fabulous enough to show the dress off, yet not too mainstream that I look a bit of a loon.
So far the event itself has yet to manifest itself, so until it does I will keep this one hung up in my wardrobe.
I also want to have a look and see if I can get some matching accessories. Possibly a brooch or Pendant from Lepetitmouse on Etsy, such as this evil queen one.
Or this poison apple one by LiLSweetumsBowtique. I am just not sure which colour combination works best!
I have managed to get the perfect pair of heels that I think will go a treat with the dress, these little beauties from Everything£5 which I think look suitable “witchy” yet queenly at the same time
I just need the function or a fun location to give them all a twirl.
What do you think to the dress? Are you a fan of the unusual print, or not?
Till next time
