Skirts Galore

Now, I am more of a dress person. I didn’t use to be and I don’t know why I am now. But it is pretty much all I wear. Until recently.

I actually only own one skirt which is the Cherry print Jenny skirt from Pin Up Girl Clothing which I bought about two years ago and have wore maybe 5 or 6 times. The main reason for this is that I needed a wide belt to bring the outfit together and I hadn’t found one that did the trick for me.

The skirt is one that I pair with a red Lauren top and it actually a really lovely outfit to wear. I think I had almost forgotten that I had it.

And then I got a new skirt in the Pin Up Girl Clothing yard sale. A harlequin skater skirt and peasant blouse which I reviewed a few weeks ago. (see blog here)

PUG Harlequin and Peasant top

Since then I have gone a little skirt crazy. This is mainly due to a very good friend and PUG lover Michaela who I met around two years ago. We bonded in London over a mutual love of the brand and had stayed in touch.

Michaela got in touch to say that unfortunately (but lucky for me) she had lost a lot of weight and her PUG collection was now miles too big for her, and would I be interested in buying any.

Of course I knew that Michaela would have treated them like the wonders they are, and they would be pristine. She actually had 6 skirts, none of which I had but had spent a lot of time lusting over.

Well, it would be silly not to, wouldn’t it?

I started off by purchasing my two favourite skirts, a red Venice print and a pink umbrella Mary Blair print. They are both beautiful and I knew I could wear my red Lauren top with them until I got something which gave a bit of contrast.

Venice and Umbrella Print

As much as I loved them all, I don’t have unlimited funds and genuinely couldn’t afford to buy them all. Michaela knew I would treasure them and wear them with pride, and so she offered to keep them for me, buying one or two a month.

I could have literally cried with joy.

The first two arrived and were as stunning as I knew they would be.

The Venice print was just stunning. Heavy weight cotton with a lovely gather, it is a showstopper of a skirt.

The Mary Blair print is whimsical and pretty. The contrasts of colours allow for any number of different tops to be worn with it.

Now I am waiting for next month to get another couple. The orange and lemon Jenny and the Mary Blair train print Jenny are next on the list.

That only leaves the Neverland print and a Mary Blair Heart and lips print to go.

Hearts and Lips and Neverland Print

I have managed to find some half sleeve t-shirts in Marks and Spencers to go with them. They are slash neck so have a bit of a vintage vibe about them. I intend to wear a selection of  brooches (which may or may not have fallen into my shopping basket)

Viva La Lux!

The best thing about the t-shirts is that they come in a range of 15 different colours, in sizes 8 – 24 and are the bargain price of £6.50! And excellent M&S quality, as you would expect.

M&S Slash Neck Tops

I can’t wait to wear my new collection, as it will really open up my wardrobe. I know that the t-shirts and the PUG tops I already own will give me a good mix and match collection.

I just need the sun to stay out so I can wear them!

Thanks also to Michaela for allowing me to use her gorgeous photographs in my post! Why not check her out on Instagram @kaylaevans84

What do you think to the new skirts? Or even the T-shirts?

Till next time
