Lucy Loves Violet

Remember around 8-10 years ago when Facebook was the be all and end all and everyone seemed to spend hours posting, chatting and reconnecting? It was the latest thing and everyone got onto it.

Times have certainly changed and I for one spend very little time on Facebook compared to what I used to. Games and Pokes and chatting till the early hours no longer amuse me, and I really only use it to keep up with friends and my blog/page.

One of the great things that happened though was the ability to connect with people that you had lost touch with, in some cases after many years. School, College and previous job colleagues; it was all possible through the request a friend add button.

Some years ago I was happy to reconnect with a lovely lady called Rachel. It had been around 20 years since we had last been in contact and certainly our lives had changed in many ways. I can’t remember who added who but I am glad we did reconnect.

Since then we have had many conversations and I was elated when she messaged me to tell me she was opening up her own online shop selling vintage style clothing and accessories.

Lucy loves Violet opened it’s doors at the beginning of March and threw itself into getting a great range of vintage Repro fashion; Collectif, Voodoo Vixen, Dolly and Dotty, Lady V London and Lindybop to name a few. All the companies I love!

And she didn’t just stop at beautiful dresses. A lovely selection of handbags grace the web page too. Another of my favourites.

Chatting with her regarding the plus size ranges out there was a great way of both having a catch up and also getting the opinions of a vintage loving plus size woman out there to companies.

We manage to bond even further over a common love of swing dresses and I was really chuffed that she had reached out to me.

Having a good old look at the website, I managed to pick out a few favourite items, not just plus size but things that I loved and wanted to share with my readers no matter what size they are.

I also had to include a couple of the handbags. Mainly as it is my birthday in July and I would like them (hint hint family)

Rachel very kindly offered to send me a dress to review and we chose the Cindy dress from Dolly and Dotty.

The dress has a lovely scoop back section where the  and gives it a different look to most swing dresses. I really like the design of this dress as it really is unlike anything that I currently own.

Lucy loves Violet have a whole range of clothing to suit all budgets and will also be adding more in the coming months, including Hell Bunny and Lady Voluptuous.

I decided to wear the dress over the Easter period as it was so spring like. I paired it with a little black kitten heel, a black vintage bag and some black earrings. Due to the neckline of the dress, a necklace was not necessary and only detracted from the shape of the collar.

I plan to give the dress a full review soon. don’t worry!

The wonderful Rachel has also told me that she has a current offer running of 10% off anything on the website and she can also order most sizes and items from all the above brands. All you need to do is drop her a line and tell her what you are looking for.

The code for the discount is LOVES10 – why not go and see if you can grab a bargain?

I can honestly say that Rachel is one of the loveliest ladies I have ever known and I want to wish her great success with her new venture. I know I will be a repeat customer!

Till next time
