Writing for Vintage Life

Nearly two years ago I went to my first Twinwood Festival. This was August Bank Holiday 2015 and the Monday absolutely poured it down all day. However the one sunny highlight to my day was meeting Rachel Evans, the Editor in Chief of Vintage Life Magazine.

It was a delight to meet her, and we had a couple of snaps together. I also signed up for a yearly subscription to the magazine, as I had been having real difficulty getting a copy in WhSmiths.

That was one of the best things I ever did. I looked forward to the magazine hitting the doormat every month and read it cover to cover.

In March 2016 I was chosen as part of their “My Style” feature which showed five of my favourite vintage styles. I was literally so honoured to be featured in the magazine. I even got a second copy so I could put it in my memory box in pristine condition!

My Style Up Close – Vintage Life Article

So, imagine my pride at submitting a proposal to the Plus size team during the revamp of the magazine back in August of last year.

My proposal was based around the hunt for plus size original vintage clothing which I was going to research during the second Twinwood festival in 2016.

It was a successful submission and was published in October in the bumper relaunch issue.

Me! My article published in a real magazine!

The magazine landed with a resounding plop on my doormat and I was so excited. My hands literally were shaking!

So what is the purpose of this blog post, exactly?

Well it is to encourage people out there to aim for the stars. To give something a go. To dare to dream.

Two and a bit years ago I was nervous about starting to set up a blog. I didn’t think I was a good enough writer and that no-one would want to read what I had to say. But the statistics don’t lie, I have lots of lovely, wonderful readers. They encourage and support me.

Having a fabulous Editor tell you that you are a Superb Writer means the World – Thanks Hailie

My First ever Blog post

So this is for me, a little way to give something back. I have a passion for writing. I love the organisation of it, the flow and the composition of an article. I know I don’t have perfect grammar, but what I do have is passion.

Passion to write about anything and everything. And it has led to me having several articles in a national magazine. I never saw that coming three years ago!

So, if you love something, go out and do it. You never know where it might lead!

Till next time,
Txx
