A few weeks back I had a lovely email from a company called Tegen asking me if I would like to have a look at their range of accessories and possibly give them a try.
Well, I do love a good accessory or two, and they offered to send a selection of vintage inspired goodies to me.
A couple of days later, a box arrived on the door, and when I opened it , there was a multitude of tissue wrapped pretties inside. A Brooch, Hair Slide, Capette, Flower, Fascinator and more.
The colours were amazing, and every item was just perfect and suited me down to the ground.
The first items I wore were a gorgeous red and black hair fascinator AND a crown brooch. I was having a bit of a hectic day, and time was of the essence. I pulled on a long time favourite black dress, only to find I had a little split at the front and you could see the bow of my bra. What more of an opportunity to put the brooch to good use.
I decided to accessorise with red and black and so put the fascinator on too. I absolutely loved the twisted sinamay loops, intertwined with red feathers. It went perfect with the outfit, and with a red bag and red shoes I was all set.
These items are both by Rosie Fox and retail for just £9.95 for the flower fascinator and £14.95 for the crown brooch.
The fascinator was worn both on my head and also a plain black coat which needed a little decoration. I think it worked really well as a brooch and would be perfect on my other coat which is red.
The brooch featured a gold crown with jewelled red embellishments. It looked a lot more expensive than it actually was, and I got quite a lot of compliments from people when I wore it. I could totally see me wearing this a lot. On the outside of my coat, on my cardigans, my dresses and even on a fabulous fur shrug I have.
Most of the products that come from Tegen have the added bonus of a hair clip AND a brooch pin. This means that they are multi-purpose, either as jewellery or hair adornments.
The next item I wore was a capette made of creamy lace with sparkling embellishments and a large floral design which really captured the light. I absolutely loved how this looked with my new hair colour as it really stood out.
The caplet is on a very thin Alice band, which is easily hidden by your hair. I thought this piece was the most vintage looking of them all and I really enjoyed wearing it. It was light on the head and the Alice band was very comfortable. At just £14.95 I thought this looked a lot more expensive than it actually was.
One of the smaller pieces that I was sent was a glorious little smokey gold beaded hair slide. I really liked this piece as it was small enough to wear pinning back a little section of my hair, however it added some sparkle to a plain hairstyle which I thought really worked.
This piece costs £12.95 so certainly wouldn’t break the bank.
Another item that had both a brooch and hair clip was a feather fascinator. This was quite a showstopping piece. Black and whiter feathers with red embellishments. This fascinator has a semi circle design and the top section has diamante jewels within twisted wire. It has a twenties vibe to it and looked stunning with a velvet dress that I wore with it.
At £9.95 I felt that this was underpriced a little as it really it a stunning looking piece and I know of several occasions when I will be able to wear it.
The last item I was sent was a silky turquoise single flower. Now readers will know that I do love a good hair flower and usually can be found wearing one every day. Whilst not as big as my normal flowers, this one was stunning in its simplicity at the great price of £4.95.
The flower is an amazing colour and made of such soft silky material that it moves when you do. This gives it an excellent effect and I know that I will wear it often, especially as it compliments my grey hair very well.
Every single item I received was beautifully made and of a consistently high quality. As previously mentioned the functionality is great due to the pin and clip combination. This means you get more wear for your money.
I highly recommend that you give Tegen a go, especially if you are looking for something slightly unusual or regularly found on the High Street. The range is constantly growing and all of the prices are very kind on the pocket with items to suit all ages I am, sure you would find something you love.
Tegen have opened my eyes to a few new styles and I know I will be using this Company in the future as the products really do match my style.
