Simply Swim Suits me fine….

You may recall in previous months I have reviewed some different kinds of swimwear. I have a lovely custom bikini and also a stunning cobalt blue swimming costume that I took on a recent trip to Centreparcs.

Whilst both of these suit me brilliantly, I was recently coerced into looking at some more costumes by my daughter, Little Chick,

Now, as many of you know, she is away in her final year at the University of Winchester and is also part of the University Swim Team. She loves to swim and enjoys the freedom that being in the water gives her. She also knows just how much I used to love swimming (and how out of the habit I have become)

On another of my posts (50 things to do before I turn 50) I have a couple of swimming related things to tick off of my bucket list. Namely, Swim a mile in one go and to swim in an outdoor Lido in London.

Both of these things would be totally achievable. However I haven’t done any “proper” swimming for maybe three years now. This is a total shame as I get such a buzz from it and I know how much it improves my health and general stamina.

To this end, Little Chick and I have discussed getting into a swimming regime when she comes home from University in May.

Of course, muggins here has been pushed towards looking at new swimwear for us both which is where “Simply Swim” come into the picture. This company tend to specialise in the fitness side of swimming instead of the fashion side of things.

Little Chick took to the website like a duck to water, literally. I currently have THREE different costumes that she has on her (MY) list to purchase, and there is a couple that I have my eye on too.

Without wishing to embarrass her, the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree and she has a ample chest. I think she would be the first to say it is one of her best attributes. However when you are trying to do the butterfly, most costumes would end up having a wardrobe malfunction if purchased from your fashion stores.

Simply Swim have such a huge variety and even manage to come up with a few plus size swimwear for me. BONUS!

So, what did Little Chick and I choose?

Well, she looked at it from a logical point of view, putting her experience of being on the swim team to use. As for me, I looked at the pretty patterns and colours!

Her first choice was the Freya Active Titanium High Neck swimsuit.

She chose this costume as it ticks all the boxes. It has long lasting chlorine resistant material, is high necked (to stop any embarrasing pop outs) has wide supportive straps and an adjustable back. It also has an inner bra support which is exactly what she needs.

At only £42 this is a great value costume and looks pretty good too, Basic, simple and elegant.

Her second choice was the Zoggs Lux Sport swimsuit

Now Zoggs is a brand she has worn for many years, firstly as a toddler. They have always been a great fit, fun and trendy and with some great patterns. This swimsuit is no different.

The geometric design makes it look really different and eyecatching. It has the wide straps, high front and internal bra support. Again the material is chlorine resistant.

This costume is actually the cheapest of them all at only £26.60 – an absolute bargain in my eyes!

Her third choice is perhaps my favourite one. The Speedo Sculpture Auraglow costume is something totally different to the norm.

Whilst it states this is more for leisurely laps, It looks like it has a great level of support.

There is a tummy control panel, which Little Chick says would help with her confidence, as many of the other ladies in the team are a lot thinner/more toned than she is.

It doesn’t have as high a neckline, but a quirky and high back makes for an interesting design. There pattern is almost an illusion style, making it very slimming.

Such an unusual back design

Whilst I know this is not the most supportive/competitive style of swimsuit, I really like the overall design and at £35.00 it wouldn’t break the bank either.

Now all I have to do is see which one Little Chick chooses; after all I am certainly not buying her all three!

As for me, what did I choose?

The websites has a great range of plus size swimwear and there are several swimsuits I liked on the site, however I do have to be practical.

I need the high front, yet I also need the high back. The Zoggs Torquay Legsuit does this for me. Totally.

Whilst this is not the prettiest pattern/innovative colour combo, it literally hits all the spot for me.

The longer boyleg, the high front and racing back mean that I would be adequately covered and supported in all directions. The internal bust shelf means my “girls” won’t be moving anywhere they shouldn’t and I could feel confident and happy that I could swim to my hearts content whilst wearing a great quality and supportive garment.

This also has a lifetime guarantee and is only £30.00 which I think is a total bargain.

Perfect support for me.

Now all I need is for the next few months to rush past until Little Chick and I can get ourselves in the pool together.

After all, it is easier doing something when you have support and that is what we both need!

So, what costume do you think we should choose? Do you agree with our choices?

Till next time…
