A little while ago I was lucky to be contacted by a lady representing a company who made vintage style dresses.
The company was called Zapaka and they offered to make some dresses to my exact measurements and send them for me to review. If you missed what I chose, you can read all about it here
Of course, I took them up on their offer and waited with bated breath to see what would come my way.
Well, I am ecstatic to report that the dresses arrived and I am absolutely thrilled with all three. Two are more practical, daily wear dresses and the other is a floor length velvet gown which really needs a classy event to wear it to.
My intention is to review the two everyday dresses in this blog and then write about the evening gown in a separate post as it really does deserve showcasing.
So how were the other two dresses?
Burgundy V Neck Vintage Party Dress
I was a little worried that giving measurements over the internet wouldn’t work when it came to getting a perfectly made dress. I have to admit that in this case, I was totally wrong.
Green Plaid Vintage Swing Dress
All three of the dresses fit like a dream. The bust, waist and hip were absolutely spot on and even the sleeves were perfect. This is something that has caused problems in the past as the sleeves don’t get sized up along with the rest of the dress OR they are sized up big enough to fit a giant.
These were flattering, well cut and didn’t drown me. This was also the case for the rest of the dresses too.
The first one I tried on was a burgundy double breasted, shawl collar dress.
Beautiful Burgundy
This dress is quite plain and unembellished however I plan to jazz it up a little with my accessories.
A Perfect Fit
I think of this dress as a perfect cross-over; wear it without flashy accessories and it is perfect for a visit to the supermarket, a cup of coffee with friends or bling it up for an evening meal or a trip to the theatre.
Amazing Quality
The dress is not as long as some of my dresses however it is a couple of inches below my knee so that works for me. It is full enough to allow for a petticoat underneath it and I will happily wear it with knee length boots or a pair of kitten heels.
Made to measure
The second dress is a real cutie.
Dark green with a blue tartan accent bow and pleated section in the skirt, it is absolutely gorgeous.
Perfect Plaid
The dress has a high neck which is quite unusual but something I really love. Then there is the tartan bow that is affixed to one side and it really is very effective.
Highland Fling
The quality of the material is very good. Quite stretchy cotton means there is a lot of give in your movements and it makes it very comfortable to wear.
Cute and curvy
I love the style of this dress but my only small complaint is that it is much shorter than what I am used to, barely just covering my knees. Whilst this is not a major issue, it does mean that I probably wouldn’t wear it with shoes, using my knee high boots instead.
The best fit

This is not a major issue as such, but given that I am only 5 foot tall, it may be even shorter on those blessed with longer legs!
That aside, this dress is a fun one to wear. It is cute and playful and I am quite excited to find some accessories to go with it; maybe a tartan handbag or headscarf to set it off.
