In less than a week it is the Inaugural StyleXL Awards in Birmingham. Arranged by the wonderful Leah Shafik, the awards were arranged to celebrate plus size achievements in the UK.
Now, unlike other awards, this ceremony isn’t being held in an expensive venue, with tickets costing a small fortune. In fact, nominees don’t even have to pay for their tickets, and the general public could purchase one for just £20. A bargain at half the price!
I was blow away to be nominated for two awards, Most Inspiring Blogger and Best Newcomer. I am against some exceedingly fierce competition, so again have no belief in being the winner, however all of the nominees in every award are already winners in my eyes.
Of course when you are attending an event like this, the first thing that comes into your head (apart from getting to see all my plus size babes) is What the hell do I wear?!?!
So, I jumped online and started trawling through what I should wear. Leah had said it wasn’t a posh gown kind of affair, more a cocktail/party type of dress. Off I went looking.
Why is it when you have an event and money to spend, you just can’t find the exact thing that you want? But when I am skint, there are thousands of things I covet!
I ended up with several different choices from all my favourite companies, before deciding on the one to order.
