For me, the festive period was a quiet one. We didn’t have raucous parties or drunken shenanigans. We ate too much, we played board games and we chilled out as literally all of the family were exhausted from the run up to Christmas with long work hours and University.
We spent time in our lounging jammies, watching films and the heats of Worlds Strongest Man. And I loved it.
There were afternoon naps, champagne at noon, pigs in blankets at 10pm. We literally did what we want, when we wanted to.
And there was NO Christmas Dinner at all.
WHAT? What weirdness is this, I hear you say.
Well, I had my profoundly deaf friend Dennis here on the 16th for a full Christmas Dinner and I was hosting a family gathering for up to 23 on the 30th, so we decided simply not to do it.
And it was so stress free!
However, one of the things I missed most about not really ‘doing’ dinner was the fact there was no reason to dress up. I literally watched all the wonderful party dresses and Christmas gowns all over social media and I really missed that part of it.
However my festive period was soon to change when I had the family come over on the 30th.
I had purchased a stunning gown from Unique Vintage; the Goldwyn in green which I absolutely loved.

Made of green velvet with a floral/bird pattern, it has clean simple lines with a slightly draped back. Unique Vintage are based in America so it had been ordered there and arrived within a few days.

However, I had perhaps lost a few more inches on a carb free plan (due to health issues) than I realised and so it was a little loose on me. I knew it would be a total palaver to send it back to the States, so I do plan to keep it and get it altered slightly.
Now, green is not something I tend to wear massive amounts of. Especially Emerald green. However the Goldwyn was just so fabulous that I had to go with the green and not the black version.
I had ordered it in a 5XL (size 26 UK) and I have to say it is VERY generous and stretchy. It was a bit loose over my boobs and also the waist area, so if you are considering this gown, check the measurements carefully and possibly even size down.
Saying that, it was also in the sale at a great price of £71 and it is amazing quality for that price. I was over the moon.
I paired up the dress with a gorgeous Pandora Collier necklace that I had brought with some Christmas money. This was half price at only £35. It came in two sizes, a 40 and a 50 and I wanted to choker type look so went with the 40. I love it, but it is very snug.

Sadly due to lots of people all arriving, I didn’t get any full length photographs however am really pleased with the couple I did get as shown here.
A Little Loose
I plan to wear this during the Twinwood Festival at some point, so no doubt once I get it altered I will be happy to show off the full length version of me in it.
