If you read me often you will know I have a new found love of vintage style spectacles all due to the the amazing ladies, Lauretta and Caroline over at Retropeepers.
I took the plunge around 18 months ago when they offered to send me some glasses and it pretty much changed my life.
I am profoundly short sighted yet hate wearing my glasses. Ever since I was able to wear disposable contact lenses, I have relied on them.
The lenses I currently wear can be slept in and worked in and then thrown out after 30 days and another pair put in. I loved the fact that I didn’t have to wake up with blurry vision and consequently I pretty much stopped wearing glasses unless my eyes were sore or irritated.
One of the main reasons was that the general opticians didn’t really offer that much in the way of vintage styles, and new fashion glasses look a bit odd with circle skirts and full petticoats!
Retropeepers then changed my opinion totally when they offered me a pair of Betty glasses to try out. I went with the graduated green Betty and literally fell in love. They have travelled around Europe with me and I wear them more than I do my contact lenses – what a turn around!
Recently I tried a pair of Marilyn’s and loved them. They were super cute in a graduate aqua and I really enjoyed wearing them. I felt that between the two styles I had pretty much got it covered.
Then on Sunday 27th January I went down to LondonEdge 2019 at the Business Design Centre in Angel and was super excited to meet the Retropeepers ladies as I had recommended that they might do quite well standing there.
By this point, they had asked me to be a Retropeepers Ambassador and I was so excited to represent the brand and also have a go at some of the other styles of glasses to see what I wanted to try out next.
I was really eager to try out Peggy to see what that looked like on me, so I made my way around to the stand and finally introduced myself to Lauretta and Caroline. Queue huge hugs all round and then it was time to try some of the wonderful styles they had to offer.
The first I tried was Gloria in Sunset Pearl. Whilst I loved the colour, I didn’t feel the shape suited me so I moved on to see what else might work.
Then I spotted Peggy. Red, Green, Bronze leopard, Matte Midnight and more. I literally couldn’t get enough of her.
I tried the first pair on and literally fell in love.
Betty was on her way out and Peggy was the new girl in town. I loved every single colour that I tried on and to be honest with my prescription in them, at a cost of around £60 a pair, they are so reasonable that I could order two or three pairs and match them to my outfits.
I also tried a couple of other alternatives as a girl has to have choices, doesn’t she?
Bonus!
I also had a go at a few sunglasses and decided that I really like the Belle and also Betty in sunglasses, so maybe she isn’t quite out the door yet!
So, I need to decide what pair to order next; I would love your input on this. Just let me know what you think works best.
And don’t forget it you want to go to the Retropeepers site and have a look for some yourself, just click here and they will know I sent you!
Don’t forget, in the meantime let me know what pair I should buy!
Till next time,
SPSG xx
