Bee Happy

If you read me regularly then you will know of my love for a dress that I first saw back in January at Londonedge.

Unique Vintage had this blue and white checked dress with bees and a hive on a mannequin for everyone to see.

I simply adored it and knew that if it came in my size, I would be buying it.

Fast forward five months and finally the dress was released and I snapped it up. And boy, was I glad I did as it literally fly out of the store.

Anyway the dress arrived and I couldn’t wait to wear it out.

Of course, me being me, I couldn’t just wear the dress. I had to totally co-ordinate my accessories with it.

How did I do that?

Well I started off by hitting eBay and buying jewellery making accessories and a furry bee handbag.

I mean, Who doesn’t need a furry bee handbag!

Into my checkout went little wooden bees, wooden hives, earring posts and brooch pins. I wanted to make a set of jewellery to go with my dress.

Before it all arrived, I couldn’t wait to wear the dress. I used the accessories I already had, including some amazing Splendette bangles, a yellow Primark t-shirt for my turban and some little creamy yellow Miss L Fire shoes.

I absolutely loved the look and happily went to a Steam Rally where I got a lot of compliments, especially from a stall that sold honey!

The dress is so very comfortable to wear and really is a a stand out design. Coupled with the cute little honeypot brooch that comes with it, it really has become one of my favourite outfits to wear.

That being said, I am still looking for accessories and special things to match up with it.

My favourite jewellery designer and company, Bow and Crossbones have recently released this cute bee set, although as it had red lids and a necklace, I wouldn’t match it with this dress. Whilst some people can go with contrasting colours, I have to have things that are matching.

It is just a quirk I have.

Anyway with a matching cardigan from Primark, Bangles from Splendette and Bow and Crossbones, its looks great.

I have seen this one thing though….

A bee hive sewing box which with a small plastic inner section. If I remove that, this will be a perfect handbag, much better than the fuzzy bee as it is tiny and holds very little.

A total match I think!

So, what do you think? A good choice?
