The Internet has been running wild recently with plus size drama and opinions, mainly over the Simply Be advertising Debacle. If you didn’t see my thoughts, then you can catch up here.

For too many years there has not been enough diversity in plus size models; all the major brands use a standard size 16 model to show their products. If you are really lucky, there may be a size 18.

Not a New Icon!!!!

What they all are, is leggy, young, pretty, curvy and tall.

Not a single old, short, disabled, cis, transgender, alternative, tattooed model in sight.

Not a New Icon. Not Inclusive!

In my discourse I mentioned one company that seems to have managed to get this right.

Snag tights.

A relatively young brand, Snag have used customers in their advertising, both on the internet and television. These customers are as diverse as you can get. People who actually buy the products, believe in the products and so are perfect ambassadors for the wares.

Go look at their website. You will see tall, short, older, younger, wheelchair using, tattooed, pink haired, smaller fats and the higher range fats. Every option you could possibly think of.

It was due to the adverts and the sworn testimonials of people I considered friends that I decided to place an order.

Within 5 days a large parcel arrived for me. Inside were individually tissue wrapped bundles, each a different colour with a little SNAG sticker. It was almost like my birthday had arrived and I had gifts to open.

So, what did I order?

In the past I have bought Chub Rub shorts from Chaffree. Great quality and a brilliant fit, the price point of £19.00 was a little high, when needing to order 4 or 5 pairs. But I did need them, so not much choice.

With Snag they have the same style of shorts in 5 different colours. For the bargain price of £7.99. Almost a third of the price.

I ordered a pair of ‘Builders Tea’ a natural colour that was almost knee length in design. The quality was amazing, no different to my previous ones and they wore so very well.

Chafe Free Shorts

Not a single roll up, rub, chafe or bout of discomfort. Perfect!

I also ordered 3 pairs of tights in a sheer/skin tone, 50 and 80 denier. As winter is coming up I wanted to try out a thicker pair yet have some ‘normal’ ones for smarter/work occasions.

The 80 denier I ordered in Slate, a lovely warm grey tone (which seems like an oxymoron). The thickness was warm enough, yet comfortable enough and wore well all day. I will be ordering some more in a variety of colours – They actually have 80 denier tights in 11 colours.

Slate and Caramel

Pumpkin, red, turquoise, bottle green, purple, mustard, slate, raspberry, burgundy, black and navy. What a selection!

Priced at £6.99 they are worth every penny. The quality is exceptional and like other brands, I didn’t put my nails through them on the first wear. They wash really well and absolutely retain their shape, which is frankly unusual.

The 50 denier tights are much thinner which are perfect for the changing seasons. There are not quite as many colours in this thickness, however they have black, burgundy, slate, navy, builders tea, chocolate, watermelon and blueberry.

Again £6.99 is a great price point again and the quality is exceptional.

The sheer/skin tone tights are your standard thickness tights of 30 denier. They have six shades, Vanilla marshmallow, caramel, builders tea, praline, chocolate and liquorice.  I opted for builders tea as I do like a little bit of colour coverage as my legs resemble Caspar the Ghost!

The last pair I bought was a pair of fishnets. I love a good pair of these and have been wearing cheap Primark fishnets, which whilst they fit, there is no defined gusset and they split with every wear. When you get two pairs for about £3.00 this is not a bad price, but you throw a pair away after every wear, rather than washing and reusing.

The fishnets I got have a very strong gusset, over-sown and flexible. I had high hopes for them. The net is a medium size hole and called ‘fishies’. They also do a large net which is names ‘sharkies’.

Oh and they also have them in four colours – mojito, pink, orange and lagoon. The fishies and sharkies are a standard black.

So, why is SNAG so very good at what they do, and why are people raving about them? Well apart from the amazing advertising campaign and the funky colours?

The truth is that they have a unique, different way of sizing tights so that you get a nigh on perfect fit.

First you start with making a choice between Curvilicious and Athletic. Basically Curvilicious is for someone with a prominent bum and/or tum. Athletic is for someone with small or flat bum and/or tum.

Then you find your dress size and actual height. This will then give you a letter and that is what you order.

Simple as that!

To find my letter, I chose the curvilicious chart, as I am 5ft2, I looked in the >5’3 and then scrolled down to my dress size, 24 & 26 which gave me the letter F.

Snag produce tights for dress sizes 4 to 36 and up to 6ft5, which I think it the biggest range from any company I have ever seen. The charts make finding the right size easy, and there are tips and advice for when you are unsure quite what you need. They really do such a good job.

One other thing that Snag offer is a discount on multiple purchases; 10% for 3 or more items, 15% for 5 or more items  and 25% for 10 or more, which really makes a big difference. For my shorts, 3 pairs of tights and a pair of fishnets, I spent over £25 even with the discount so got free postage.

My grand total was £29.70 and they are worth every single penny.

I cannot recommend the company and product enough but even more so I love their ethos.
