When my children were small, around 7 0r 8 they wanted to have an early birthday party on Halloween. Back then Halloween wasn’t anywhere near as popular as it is now. You could barely find anything other than Pumpkins and Toffee Apples in the shops. You didn’t have the costumes, props or accessories that you now get. Not in the UK anyway

However in the USA it was a totally different kettle of fish. They have done it in a big way for many years. Even though the internet was in its relative infancy I dialled up my connection and started shopping for things.

And boy, did I find a treasure trove of spooky goodies!

Shipping a huge box over from the States wasn’t cheap but those decorations lasted many years!

Now though, they are grown up and there is no need for the decorations or costumes. We get the sweeties for the local children and always go to the door, but the house is plain and the same as always.

I have to say, I miss the dressing up and the decorating as lets face it, I don’t normally need an excuse to put something special on.

In fact, going to Disneyland Paris for Halloween in 2017 was absolutely out of this World. The only day in the whole year that adults can dress up as Disney characters. And boy did Boo and I go for it!

Fat Elsa and Fat Merida hit the park for the night time soiree and had a blast! Walking around the dark park after midnight is something everyone should do. It really is a different atmosphere to normal and spectacular too.

Anyway, Halloween has become big business in the UK in recent years and I have to say I like it. Boo is addicted to Halloween and has enough clothing to wear a different outfit every day of October and I think it is fabulous!

This is where Boo came in very handy recently as I was holding a training day and it happened to fall on Halloween. I didn’t particularly want it to be that day but it was the only day I could get the venue.

Of course I thought it would be worth having a little bit of spooky fun and planned to put up some decorations. I just didn’t have a suitable outfit.

Boo came to the rescue and loaned me one of her beautiful dresses, the Vanity Fair dress in Spiderweb print. This stunning dress really was the perfect outfit for the training and to finish it off I added a pink rose and a spider headband.

I absolutely loved the outfit and had a blast of a day.  I was just sad that I had to send it back to her!
