Over the past couple of weeks I have been showcasing some items that Shein had sent for me to review.
First was the Jumpsuit, then a white shirt dress and in my last blog it was a red off the shoulder sundress.
Now it was the last item on my list, which was an absolute sweetheart of a design; a surplice front dress in a red and black floral pattern.
Featuring a full skirt the dress has long sleeves with a ruffle, a cross over front and a matching tie belt at the waist.
Although the cross over front has a little stitch to hold it closed, I was always going to struggle with this given the size of my bust.
Whilst it was an okay fit, the stitch gaped a little which can be rectified by taking it out completely. This will give a little more leeway for my boobs.
The sleeves are a great length for me and the little ruffled cuff gives a bit of extra-special design. The skirt is quite long on me, but given that I am only 5ft, this is usually the case with most items.
I chose to accessorise this dress with my Ruby Shoo Mabel shoes and matching Padua handbag which I was lucky enough to receive at Christmas.
The bag and shoes were a perfect colour match for the dress, but of course a black bag and shoes would go equally well.
I did debate wearing my Alice Browns Cupboard red and black turban, which I thought could actually really up the fashion stakes ante, but the weather was kicking up and to be honest I was more worried that I was going to get drenched as storm clouds were hovering.
Aside from the turban, I do have several black and red hats in my millinery treasure chest which could equally work as well, I just need to hope for better weather!
Going back to the dress, it is a lovely soft polycotton with quite a large red floral bouquet design. It is a very deep red so stands out well from the black, which I really liked.
As previously mentioned, I do intend to take that little stitch out, which will give a deeper V cross over. It may well need another stitch higher up, but I will have a go with a brooch first to see how it looks.
The dress is a bargain at only £18.99 too, which is pretty good on the old piggybank, yet the quality is much better than the price suggests.
I highly recommend it as a really versatile, comfortable yet hardy dress, which again can be worn out shopping or accessorised up for a bit more pizzazz.
All in all, a total winner, in my book!
Till next time,
