I am not the most organised of people. 

Granted, when I need to be, I am methodical, logical and very obsessive about things being organised exactly the way I want them to be. 

However, I don’t tend to think into the future and plan many months ahead. 

This was then completely out of kilter for me when I started thinking forward to the festive season! 

Let me explain. 

I am not going completely bonkers, however when I saw a big sale on one of my favourite websites, I couldn’t resist making a purchase that I am potentially not going to be wearing for at least 10 more months. 

The shoe brand, Chocolaticas (Hot Chocolate Designs) have the most fun, strange and downright bonkers shoes and I absolutely love them! 

Pretty Packaging

Given that they are quite niche, they are not pairs of shoes you would wear on an every day basis. In fact, you may (such as in my case) buy a specific pair to match a specific outfit. 

A main quirk of Chocolaticas shoes is that they have a lot of designs that are unmatched pairs. 

One pink, one blue. One Frankenstein, one Dracula. One ice lolly, one lolly stick. One syringe, one blood bag.

As you can see, the shoes are not your standard kind of court or heeled shoe; they have bright, outlandish patterns and some downright unusual designs including specific Christmas, Valentines, and Halloween editions.

I was first introduced to them when I saw the most beautiful pair of Christmas Reindeer shoes, which I fell in love with however they were completely and utterly sold out.

My Dream Shoe

My little heart broke and since then I have regularly checked in on those bargain internet sites to see if a pair ever turn up in my size. Sadly 3 years later and I am still looking.

That didn’t stop me from looking at other varieties on the site and there were several Christmas styles that I was interested in.

However, I have to admit to getting waylaid and unfortunately my Mum was hospitalised several times on the run up to Christmas and I forgot all about the wonderful shoes.

A couple of weeks after Christmas though the website announced a 30% off sale and I popped on to see what was available in my size.

Those forgotten pair of festive shoes just happened to be at the reduced price!

Well, if they had my size then it was a no-brainer.

Fun and Funky

Size 5, yes, please and thank you very much!

About three days later a large parcel arrived on my doorstep.

Having never received shoes from this brand before, I was unsure what the boxes would be like and I was enchanted to see that those were as unique as the shoes themselves.

A pretty red box covered in candy canes, muffins and swirls of icing, the box features a pull out drawer which is quite sturdy and is ideal for keeping the shoes within.

Inside the drawer, the two shoes were wrapped in material printed with the brand name.

Beautiful Packaging

Lifting the first shoe out, I nearly wet myself when loud tinkly music started playing. I couldn’t work out if it was the shoe, the box or something else so I started digging into the shoe box.

Right at the bottom was a little flat package which had a sensor button in the middle.

Musical Surprise

I picked it up but it just kept playing and playing. I tried holding my hand over it, thinking it was light triggered. That made no difference either and the music was getting very repetitive.

Getting the other shoe out, I put the musical card back inside, but it still kept playing. The penny finally dropped that it may be weight activated as when I had lifted the shoe up, that is when it started.

Christmas Crazy

Anyway, I put the little card under the edge of my bottom and that is when it finally stopped playing.

So, moving onto the shoes, What exactly had I bought?

Full Frontal

Only an amazing pair of red and green Christmas print shoes with platform heels!

The Cozy Christmas Mary Jane shoes feature a white wedge heel with green holly leaves and red baubles and bows.

Right Shoe

Each shoe is a different satin material; one is a red material printed with baubles, presents, bells, snowflakes and stockings. The second is green with  baubles, presents, bells, snowflakes and candy canes.

There is also one large item on each shoe; the red has a large wreath and the green a large candy cane.

Left Shoe

Each shoe mirrors in opposite, in that the green material has red trim around the edges and the strap. The red shoe has green all around it.

In all fairness, the shoes are rather fabulous but look like something a small child would wear.

Well, these actually brought out the child in me and I just couldn’t resist them.

I actually already have the perfect outfit (or two) for them as I bought two Christmas themed dresses in the Lady V London sale just after Christmas. I haven’t shown them off yet as it was already coming into January when I got them and I planned to keep them for this December 2023.

Candy Cane Cutie

Oh. I just realised what I had done there….. maybe I do plan ahead more than I realise!
