This Christmas , Work was slightly different.
We had a new boss who was a lot more amenable to changes. Being the supervisor of 18 people I asked if it was possible to have a dress down/up day for charity.
To my surprise he not only agreed but said we could do it over several days due to the fact that there is a shift pattern in place and he didn’t want people to miss out.
I asked the staff what Charity we should support and eventually a local Womens Refuge was chosen. For each day someone wore Christmas themed clothing, it cost £1.
Well, In my own inimitable style I said ‘Bring it On’
The option was given to the 6 locations that I supervise. It wasn’t compulsory however I offered a prize to be awarded to the best Christmas themed outfit, again to be decided by our Boss.
I was excluded from this however it didn’t stop me from joining in.
On Monday the 17th of December (the first day) I turned up for work as an Ice Princess with a dress from Pin Up Girl Clothing (sadly now sold out). I had a lovely commissioned hairpiece by Peacock Pretties for my hair. I had popped to Boots and got some glitter. Opening it, I tried to sprinkle a little on my face and chest.
BIG mistake.
The top fell off, covering me in silvery glitter. It went EVERYWHERE.
Four days and 5 showers later and it was still turning up. I looked great though!
Wednesday 19th December I turned up in a glitter covered Winter village skirt and matching head wrap. I commissioned this from the amazing Sink or Swim Bowtique and it was Amazing.
I turned up at Head Office and even made it onto the Force Twitter Page.
Thursday 20th December I wore a beautiful Society+ tutu. I described myself as a Fat Sugar Plum Fairy.
I added hair accessories from Primark and surprisingly a beautiful hair clip from the wonderful Sarah at Pin Up Curl, clipped to my waist. Perfect.
I even wore the most painful shoes ever from Irregular Choice; they are so solid and stiff that it is like walking in concrete blocks. They looked great though!
Friday the 21st was my last day at work and so what else could I be?
A Nutcracker of course!
A gorgeous dress from Silly Old Sea Dog, added to some Christmas accessories was the perfect end to a perfect week.
As for my staff?
Well, we had Elves, Christmas Puddings, Mrs Santa and more. It was really well supported and we raised over £50 for the refuge.
The Prize? Well I wouldn’t mind it myself!
As for the winner, well I am waiting for the Boss to choose the best one from the photographs I sent him, so watch this space!
Did you do anything special at work? What charity did you support on a dress down day?
Till next time,
