Recently I did a post about some items I had ordered from Shein that were a little out of my comfort zone. If you missed it, you can read it here
So, how did I get on?
For most part, pretty darn well!
The nightgown was a delight. Loose and light, it was the perfect option during the heatwave we have been having. Literally as soon as it came, it went on and the size guide gave perfect measurements and it fit brilliantly.
I was a little worried that it may shrink in the wash, but I was delighted to find that even after 5 washes it has not changed dimensions at all and I have absolute confidence that I will get loads of wear out of it.
There is not really much more I can say about a nightgown that gets worn for a few hours of an evening!
The second outfit I tried on was the black paisley embroidered skirt. This was an absolute stunner and I was really chuffed with it. A very soft netting overskirt made up of several layers with glorious embroidery.
The top section had a wide elasticated banding and fit like a glove. It was very comfortable and I loved the loose summer style to it. I paired it up with a dusky pink camisole and hair flower and some Birkenstocks.
Not my normal look, however I really liked the whole aesthetic.
There was only one small problem.
Or should I say, large problem!
It was SO long. Now, I am short, literally 5ft nothing. The skirt looked long on the model, but I didn’t expect it to be brushing my toes.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not unhappy with the length. I was just hoping for something more mid-calf length. I do have the option of taking it to my seamstress to see if she can take the band off and shorten it.
Of course, she cannot take a few inches off the bottom as all the beautiful embroidery would be lost. I guess I just have to decide if I want to risk getting it altered, or just wear it as a loose summer smart-casual skirt.
My next choice was the very vintage style cream and green style two piece outfit. I had ordered it with the hope that it would match a hat I had purchased with some birthday money yet didn’t have anything to wear with it.
I was absolutely spot on with the colouring was a perfect match. So, was the outfit perfect too?
It fitted like a dream everywhere apart from…. You’ve guessed it.
The length.
No issues with that though as it can easily be taken up as there is no pattern to contend with.
My last two choices, as you may recall were the two that I was worried about; a pair of green dungarees with a stripy t-shirt. I have to admit that I was concerned that I may resemble a minion.
Actually I was really very surprised upon getting them out of bag that they were a very soft cotton like material. The t-shirt was generous too and I loved the feel of the set on.
I have only one issue with these dungarees; upon taking the photographs and trying to undo the buckle the pin fell out and when I tried to repair it, the metal crossbar wasn’t soldered properly and completely snapped off!
This means that the dungarees now only have one buckle attached, however it will be pretty easy to get them replaced with another pair. To be honest, although I could be angry that one buckle broke on the first wear, I am glad it did it then rather than when wearing them out and about.
The final option was a stunning yellow ditsy floral jumpsuit with frog closures and a mandarin neckline.
I had absolutely adored this and it was the original reason for my order.
Sadly when I went to put it on, although it fitted it was very tight and snug. It made my overhanging tummy even more obvious than normal and gave me a bit of a camel-toe too.
I loved the outfit so much, but hated the way I looked in it to the point that I simply did not get any photographs taken in it.
Such a shame, but it is what it is.
Anyway, Shein really did come through for me as a whole, but will be even better once I get them altered and I will be sure to show you the final look.
Till next time,
