Challenging my Style?

In recent months you will have seen I have become quite a fan of Shein.

A bit odd to say, given that I am not really a ‘fast fashion’ kind of girl; more of a ‘oldie worldie’ kind of  gal.

However, in recent months I have been seeing more and more vintage influenced clothing turning up on the site. Full skirted dresses, wide legged jumpsuits and pussycat bow blouses. Perfect items to add to the vintage wardrobe, especially as it is nigh on impossible to get true vintage in my size.

So after trying out the 30’s style pyjamas and the slinky black dress, I wanted to give something else a go.

The Cats Pyjamas

I have to say, a couple of these were SO out of my comfort zone that I had to question myself to see if I had finally lost the plot. Even Baby Bear looked at me and was a little perturbed.

Feeling like a slinky kitten!

However I ploughed on through with my choices as I REALLY wanted to give them a go and I could always send them back if they didn’t suit/fit.

So, what were my choices?

Well, as I have to wear uniform all day (and vintage all day off) as soon as I get into the house after work I rip the bra off and put my comfies on. This could be some flannel pj’s or a jersey nightshirt or a long caftan type dress depending on the weather.

Winter is for the fleecy snuggle stuff and Summer is the long loose flowing caftan.

Well, I was running out of the long loose stuff especially during the unseasonably warm weather we were having and I saw this lovely looking nightwear and priced at only £7.99.

Loose and flowing with a small tie belt to cinch it in, it seemed like a perfect choice for summer evenings. A pretty floral design on a background of cream, it was 100% polyester so hopefully would be pretty cool.

Cool and Crisp Nightwear

Into the basket it went.

My second choice was pretty ‘normal’ for me too. A black skirt with a colourful paisley embroidered border, I knew I had several vest tops that would look lovely with it and a lot of matching accessories.

Perfect Paisley

Having never ordered a skirt from Shein before, I wasn’t sure if it would fit however I wanted to give it a try and at only £14.99 it seemed like a bargain given the beautiful design all around the bottom.

Next!

I was immediately drawn to the next option and I think it could be a very versatile addition to my wardrobe. It was a stunning cream and moss green flounce blouse and skirt with contrasting embellishments.

Vintage Vibes

I loved the colour combination and the fact that I could mix and match the top with other bottoms and vice versa.

At a recent vintage event I had purchased a moss green hat and I think that it would be a great colour match however I am unsure if the style will go. Not to worry though as I already own a crocheted snood in that style so could victory roll my hair and accessorise with a hair flower, again in the same colour.

Now, so far you may well be asking yourself what is so ‘out of my comfort zone’ with these options. They look pretty sane and simple to most readers.

It was the last two that really are a bit of a challenge; the previous three were just ‘extras’ in the basket!

So, purchase number 4 was a green striped t-shirt with green wide leg dungaree jumpsuit. As previously mentioned several months ago, I love the idea of dungarees, however at only 5ft tall and pretty wide, I was concerned that I would just look like a minion.

Delightful Dungarees

This had stopped me from purchasing a denim one in the past and I thought that maybe a dark green version would be slightly different and flatter rather than make me look ridiculous.

Leading onto my final and most unusual of choices, I just absolutely loved the look of the ditsy print frog button jumpsuit. It was different, feminine and like nothing I have ever worn before.

However, the model is nearly 5ft8 and her bust alone is 20 inches smaller than mine.

Joyous Jumpsuit?

I really loved it though and it was reduced to only £11.49. I couldn’t resist it and the really great thing about Shein is that sending back items is really simple and easy.

It doesn’t cost anything and you get the refund back pretty quickly too.

Win-win situation.

Anyway. I placed the order and as usual Shein gives great discount codes which meant I got another 20% off, bringing the grand total to £57.00.

Of course, Shein give you the option of paying over 3 months with Klarna too, meaning for less than £20 over three months, I got 4 new pieces for my wardrobe and a nightgown too!

Just need to check how it all fits now.

Watch out for the reveal coming soon.

Till then,
